El Estudio is a production company focused on Spanish-speaking audiences, founded by Enrique Lopez Lavigne, Diego Suarez Chialvo and Pablo Cruz, who together amassed over $620 million in worldwide box office.

The recent winner of 3 Ariel Awards from the Mexican Film Academy El Baile de los 41 (Cinepolis & Netflix), the documentary series Las crónicas del taco (Netflix), the comedy series Pena Ajena (Pantaya), the docu-reality Siendo Pampita (Paramount+), the Hombres G musical film Voy a Pasármelo Bien, directed by David Serrano (SPIP, RTVE & Amazon), and the Marea Alta series (VIX), written by Anton Goenechea and directed by Roger Gual, are their most recent productions.

With offices in Mexico City, Los Angeles and Madrid, El Estudio has more than 10 projects in production, 20 in development with platforms and studios and 60+ in in-house development.

THE TEAM

Pablo Cruz

Is a Mexican film and television producer and El Estudio’s Co-founder & President of Production, Americas. Pablo is the creator and producer of the Netflix hit series “Luis Miguel: La Serie” and the original documentary series “Taco Chronicles”, winner of the James Beard award for best television program. Within the television landscape, he has also produced the MTV cult comedy “Soy Tu Fan”, as well as “Niño Santo” and “Alguien Más”. Invited in 2017 to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in recognition of his career, Cruz has produced over thirty films, such as: “Mr. Pig” by Diego Luna; “Salt & Fire” by Werner Herzog; the acclaimed “Miss Bala” by Gerardo Naranjo; “Sin Nombre” by Cary Fukunaga; “Zama” by Lucrecia Martel; the remake of “Miss Bala” produced by Columbia Pictures; David Pablos’s “The Chosen Ones”, “El Baile de los 41” and “A Kidnapping Scandal, The Florence Cassez affair”.

Enrique López Lavigne

Co-founder & President of Production, Europe
Enrique is responsible for the three seasons of Movistar’s cult comedy Vergüenza, Netflix’s three seasons of Paquita Salas, and A3 Media’s Veneno. Enrique has over fifty films in his filmography, three of which are among the ten biggest box office hits in Spain, and other titles including such internationally acclaimed films as The Impossible and A Monster Calls, directed by J.A. Bayona, 28 Weeks Later by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, Verónica and, more recently, La Abuela by Paco Plaza, and Asedio by Miguel Ángel Vivas.

Abel Cruz

Is our VP of Production. Graduate in Communication Sciences with a specialty in Audiovisual and Film Production at the Faculty of Political and Social Sciences of Mexico City’s UNAM, Abel Cruz currently serves as the Production Director of El Estudio. He has Line Produced various projects such as “Luis Miguel, The Series”, “La Negociadora”, “Me casé con un Idiota”, “Compulsión”, and “Vive por mi”.

He has served as production and unit management in both series and feature films, including “Roma”, “Song to Song”, “The Exorcist”, “Queen of the South”, “Aquí en la Tierra”, “Güeros”, “Guten Tag Ramón”, “Abel” among others.

Juana Garcia Blaya

Began her career as a casting producer at the age of 18. After her outstanding participation in “Igualita a mi” in 2010, she joined the Patagonik Film Group. She worked as a director on notable films such as “White Elephant” and “Came to Steal” In 2012, she became Press Assistant at ARTEAR and POL-KA, coordinating events such as Los Martin Fierro.

In 2015, she began developing his first feature film, “The Good Intentions.” In 2016, she joined Patagonik for the development and release of films such as “Zama” and “El amor menos pensado”. In 2017, he co-executed the production of “The Good Intentions’, acquired by Film Factory for international sales. After success, she was called as Creative Executive for “El Estudio ” and now she currently is the VP of Executive Production in the same company.

Giulia Cardamone

Works as the Vice President of Development at El Estudio, a production company based between Madrid, Los Angeles, Mexico City, and Buenos Aires. At El Estudio, Giulia oversees a slate of more than a hundred projects between films and TV Series. Among the most recent productions, there are Marea Alta (Vix), El Baile De Los 41 and The Taco Chronicles, both currently on Netflix. Previously, Giulia worked as a Creative Executive at the Mexican production company Canana where, among others, she worked on Miss Bala, directed by Catherine Hardwicke; and Luis Miguel, The Series, for Telemundo and Netflix. She holds a BA in International Relations from The University of Milan, and an MFA in Screenwriting from UCLA.

Tirso Calero

Director Contenidos TV EE. Nacido en Alcoy (Alicante) en 1976. Es uno de los guionistas y creadores más reconocidos en el panorama audiovisual español (con series como “Bandolera”, “Ana y los siete”, “Amar es para siempre”, “Mónica Chef”, “L’Alquería Blanca”, “Cuéntame cómo pasó”, “Servir y proteger”…) También ha escrito o dirigido películas, como “Blockbuster”, “Miguel y William”, “Carne Cruda”, “Yerma”, “Quan no acaba la nit”…

Ha desarrollado proyectos para las principales productoras, como Diagonal TV, Boomerang, Globomedia, Brutal Media, Morena Films, Minoría Absoluta, Bambú, DLO… y ha escrito la miniserie “Pirates a Denia” (Ayuda Desarrollo IVAC Generalitat Valenciana. En pre-producción)
De 2021 a 2023, formó parte del equipo creativo de The MediaPro Studio, como productor ejecutivo y guionista.

En la actualidad, es Productor y Director Contenidos TV en EL ESTUDIO España.

Julieta Bernabó

Directora Financiera. Titulada en Administración y Contabili- dad con Postgrado en Marketing y en Administración y Gestión de Empresas Audiovisuales con más de 20 años de experiencia en el sector audiovisual a nivel internacional, de- sempeñando funciones de gestión, planeamiento y control económico y financiero a nivel corporativo y de proyectos. Comienzo mi carrera profesional en la consultora Price Water- House Cooper como auditora financiera, para luego iniciar mi camino en diferentes productoras de la industria cinematográ- fica, televisiva y teatral en Latinoamérica y España. Desde oc- tubre de 2020 trabajo para El Estudio como Directora Finan- ciera.

Con años de experiencia en la producción de programación original y licenciada para América Latina/US Hispanic, así como en su distribución global, Álvaro lidera nuestra división de negocios para estas regiones. Su enfoque en la estructuración y negociación de transacciones estratégicas, junto con su orientación a resultados, lo convierten en un activo invaluable para nuestra empresa en un mercado en constante evolución.
